A Little Birdie Told Me..
Merry Christmas! I have a beautiful nature-inspired ornament that didn’t take me very long to make, and a little birdie told me to share it with you today.
Isn’t this pretty and sweet? I swear you can pull this ornament together in less then 30 minutes.
First you need a plastic clear ornament. Mine flexed enough, I was able to get a razor knife in to make just large enough a hole for my scissors.
I cut out a kind of rounded squarish hole. The sides are quite easy to cut, but the plastic is thicker at the top and bottom of the ornament.
Next, I got out my trusty hot glue gun. I added some fluffy white pompoms to be the base inside of the ornament, then I added two tiny bottlebrush trees, a bought tiny birds next and three pearls inside the next. On the front of the ornament, I added a printed out saying, Segoe Script font, trimmed that into a banner and put it aside. I twisted two clear iridescent pipe cleaners together, and then formed them around the outside of the ornament cut, just to cover that cut part. I then added this fake glitter snow stuff all over top of the pipe cleaners. Lastly, I added the banner, some christmas/holiday trim from the floral dept- the icy beads and glittered stems and glued on my birdie.
When the whole ornament was finished, I took some Elmer’s glue and added it all over the bird and eggs in the nest.
Of course, I tilted the banner so we could see inside the ornament scene better. btw- I found the bird/nests/trees at the dollar store, and in the craft store in the natural wraps section.
Isn’t this a lovely, and fast ornament to create, what a great craft item to create with your older kids and teens!
