A Pirate’s Life for Me Scrapbook Layout

Good morning Friends! I felt a little salty when I came up with the idea for this fun pirate layout.

Again, crooked pics, but not a crooked layout, well, almost not crooked, there are pirates after all!

Har har har!

I love the more grown up look to these pirates and their cuts. A Pirates Life for Me!

Such a fun cartridge!

I used the Pirates and Mermaids Cricut cartridge for this layout.

I also used Paper Doll Dress Up for the ship and cave.

These cuts are much smaller and more intricate than most other carts.

I recommend after cutting that you use the brochure that comes with the carts to help you figure out where to place the small diecuts.

I used two 4″ x 6″ photo mats, and four 3″ x 5″ photo mats allowing for 6 photos on this layout!

Because I don’t have any boys to scrapbook for, I am letting this one go for sale, you can find the listing for it here.

This layout uses some fun techniques. I used  marker to low light and accent the diecuts. I did use a white gel pen on the black to show some metallic accents.

I also used a fun gold ink called Smooch, to add gold to the chest. You could cut that from gold paper or yellow cardstock.

On these layouts, I use a lot of tearing to make the land. I find it gives a layered look without being forced.

You can see the beach area’s last layer is crumpled, then smoothed back out. I love the look of this.

These layouts are pretty simple in design. Add in two 5-inch strips of landscape, then add in your photos.

While I would usually incorporate my photos more into the design, I feel that the busy landscape would over power the photos if the photos were a part of the scene.

This design still allows for the photos to stand out, but adds a really fun idea to the layout. I found myself staring and staring at the scene after it was finished. So did my kids, so I know it’s really a fun theme!

The only things I hand cut on this layout were the pole to hold the flag by the parrot and the banner wooden piece holding the title. That is just a couple V’s cut into the ends, and I used a marker to make it look like wood.
