Change up your Photo Shoot
I consider myself an amateur photographer. I am not good enough at settings to tell you what to set your aperture at in certain light, or what F-stop to use to get a great close up. I enjoy taking pics, I enjoy being with my family. I have no desire to become a professional, however, I enjoy taking photos enough that I refuse to buy those poor quality photos from Lifetouch or other school pics. I think if you have an SLR you should go out and have some fun, learn your camera and how it reacts in certain light situations. Take off your flash and use natural light. And find a decent photo program that allows you some freedom in changing your photos to make you happy.
I am fortunate, having raised the minions not to be shy or resentful in front of the camera. They know that Mommy gets her shots and then they can go off and enjoy the setting or event we are at. And now that they’ve gotten older, they enjoy having their photos taken – mostly. I guess I would too, if it meant new clothes, hair and makeup and pretty pics to put on social media.
What I wanted to show you today, was to plan for your photo shoot, by having your subject layer clothes, bring accessories and change their look up. After about 20-25 shots, I have the minions change, either lose a layer, gain a layer, add or change accessories. We use cardigans, scarves, jewelry, flowers, t-shirts and tank tops in just one photo shoot, and it gives us many many different looks so that the photos are more exciting. I also wanted to share some of the pics I took last weekend, as we went out for a fall photo shoot.
Here are some pics of the minions, one day, with a lot of different looks.
I love the contrast of Annalise’s hair against the teal shirt and the orange leaves in the background.
We changed up the look just by adding a new necklace.
And this time, we just changed the cardigan to a new color.
Alizabeth’s bright blonde hair and golden cardigan stood out well against the rock and greens in this background.
By changing the cardigan and necklace, we have a cooler toned photo.
Just unbuttoning her cardigan allowed for more colors in the pic, showing off her pink shirt and different pink tank, along with the blue of her jeans.
Change into a pretty scarf and get a new look.
You can see the scarf added another look, but so did changing the hair accessory to another spot. Along with removing the cardigan.
Scarves are a fun accessory, and easy to add to an outfit to change up the look.
I love natural backdrops if you are taking photos, by using color, you can really make your subjects stand out.
I hope you enjoyed my photography suggestions, not only does this work well with family, but senior portraits too – many looks in just one shoot.
