Creepy Stampy Halloween Cards
Ohh! Creepy stampy Halloween cards. Do you know, one of my favorite things about Halloween is changing colors to fit my mood. I adore the traditional colors- Orange, Green, Purple… but I also think that you can be very sophisticated with colors as well. I love a vintage look with book pages and single color, it gives a monochromatic feel without being too color simple. I used two colors for these cards. A fun bright yellow, and a muted orange tone that works so beautifully with the black and cream colors.
I also love the use of recycled materials, especially cardboard. Peel off the top layer and you reveal a neat pattern from the corrugation, but leave spots of the top layer on, and it gives a worn and aged look that is so easy, but has real impact.
I was raise to be kind to books, to always make sure they are well taken care of. That books are treasures, precious treasures. So it was really difficult for me to actually tear a book apart. But I calmed myself by thinking that I’m giving the book new life. That it just won’t be going to a recycling bin, but recreated into art. Yep, that’s what I tell myself. And I kind of sort of believe it. I still have a hard time taking books apart, but it’s not so bad now.
Each one of my cards is simply made. I used simple cardstock folded into a card base. Then I added a layer of book paper. I may have added on some glitter stickers – Pink Paislee. But I have definitely added on a piece of corrugated cardboard. The Rubon’s I used for greetings are from Reminisce, and the AWESOME stamps from Inkadinkado. I used a basic dye ink for stamping, Andirondack. After I stamped my images onto book pages, I cut out each shape. Most of the shapes are also popped off the page with foam tape (3m).
thanks for dropping in today!
