Deep Dark Chocolate Pie

I am continuing my PIE DAY recipes.

Today I have this incredible rich, fudgy, amazing deep dark chocolate pie.

This pie is creamy and delightful, with an intense chocolate flavor that cannot be beat.

If you love dark chocolate, I challenge you to create this pie, and see how intense it is.

Let’s get right into how to create this masterpiece!

First, you need a pie shell.

I used a 10-inch pie plate, sprayed it well and added a pie crust to it. Because the plate is bigger than most, I used a second pie crust to add the top crust around the pie.

Then I pinched it into place.

In a microwave safe bowl, add 1-1/2 cups of half and half.

Also add in 12 oz of dark chocolate. I love this stuff.

I also use it in chip form for baking cookies.  Add in 3/4 cup of butter as well.

Melt this in a few 30-second increments in the microwave.

Then add 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 eggs and 3 egg yolks, and 2 tsp. vanilla.

In  a separate bowl,  add 1 cup dark chocolate cocoa powder.

1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt.

Mix together with a whisk, then add to the bowl of melted chocolate.

Fold the flour mix into the chocolate mix until well incorporated.

Pour the mixture into the still raw pie crust.

Bake at 350 degrees until no longer wet looking in the middle, about 50 minutes.

Allow to cool to room temperature, cut and gobble it up!

It stores well in a cool house, but I’d refrigerate above 70 degrees. Serves 8-10 people.

Serve with a cool glass of milk, whipped cream or ice cream.

This is such a rich rich pie!

Ingredients

  • 2 pie shells, and 10 inch pie plate
  • 1 1/2 cups of half and half
  • 12 oz dark chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder- dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tsp vanilla
