Duct Tape Party Part 1
So, having a teen obsessed with Pinterest, I did not realize how popular DUCT TAPE ( DUCK TAPE) was until she showed me how many followers to her duct tape board she had.
When I was a teen, you had duct tape that was grey or you had duct tape that was silver. I remember using some silver tape on my binders, so I think I was ahead of the creativity game. But now, you can find tape with hundreds of designs, from stripes, to camo, One Direction, Superhero, flowers, bacon, dots, and more. The colors are fun and bright, and the uses… well, I am going to have fun coming up with some new crafts using tape!
I came up with some simple party ideas to create your own one of a kind party. I have several ideas, so for now, I’m just posting these, and will share more another day. We’ll have fun coming up with a whole party theme in just Duct Tape. And it will be unique, and best of all, CHEAP. Your teen can create their own party and take credit for how creative they are. Their friends will be so impressed!
My ideas are just a jumping point. If you don’t like skulls or cheetah print, find a color/pattern of tape YOU like. The ideas are the same. The Banner is super easy, you just need scissors, some string and a stapler. who doesn’t have that around the house. And the cupcake picks are just put on toothpicks.
Look at those fun cupcake picks. Or Piks, or Pics. however you want to spell that. And they are easy to make.
Take a piece of duct tape, and lay on a toothpick. I made sure my icon ( the skull) was at the bottom of the piece.
Fold over the piece of tape onto itself.
Now take something round, about 2 inches around and trace it with a pen.
Then cut it out with sharp scissors. I traced my design right up to the edge of the toothpick so that I didn’t have to cut the tape there.
And you have made your first duct tape pick. To create the cheetah print picks, just lay the toothpick in the middle of a piece of tape and fold over, then cut into triangle shape, or banner shape, which I will show below.
To create the banner, take strips of tape and fold onto itself to create a double sided pattern, trimming off any sticky overhang. Then you fold the piece together at the edge, and trim a V, cutting from the edge points at the cut side, into the piece of tape. You can also cut a triangle shape from the tape end to create the banner shape.
Then all you do is to fold over a thin piece at the top of the tape, inserting your string or twine into the fold, and staple. This keeps your banners on the twine and you can move them around as you choose. If one slips off, it’s easily threaded back on. Create as large a banner as you’d like, you can tie knots in the twine at the end of each banner to keep them in place. Think about making several banners and hang them all over your room.
Also you can cut different lengths of tape so that your banner has different sizes, and that’s a great look too.
Hope you like my Duct Tape Party Part 1!
