Halloween Chocolate Covered Apples
Halloween is just a great time for sweets and treats…
and apples and chocolate.
What a combo!
I love caramel apples, but they are a little tricky to get perfect.
Why not make a new tradition, with Halloween Chocolate Covered Apples instead?
They couldn’t be easier.
Seriously, about 15 minutes, and you can have a lot done.
After about 20 minutes, they will probably be hard enough to eat them.
Perfect for last-minute bring-alongs.
All you need are…
apples, popsicle sticks, and chocolate.
Use white, use dark, use milk. ANY kind works.
Take your apples, wash ‘em, dry ‘em.
Pop the sticks in. I used super small apples. They were tiny, but perfect for this!
Melt your chocolate. I used the microwave.
Actually the oldest minion has now taken that task over.
She loves to do it.
Microwave them on high about 30 seconds – you need about 2 cups of chocolate.
We used almond bark from Walmart.
Stir well every time you pull the chocolate out of the microwave. After about 2 minutes it should be lumpy and melting.
Continue stirring – don’t put it back in – and let the heat melt the remaining lumps.
Now it’s ready to use.
I dunked the entire apple into the coating.
Go ahead, be naughty!
Put the apples on a rack, and sprinkle on a Halloween sprinkle/candy/nuts/etc….
Think you’re done? Well..
once they have firmed up a bit, add a drizzle over the top.
You can use more of the white coating, or get decadent and add chocolate too.
Oh Heck, go ahead and add more sprinkles while you are at it!
Take them off the rack and let them cool down on a piece of parchment.
If you need to display them, flatten out a cupcake wrapper. I used pinking scissors to cut around my purple ones so there wouldn’t be too much wrapper showing.
Look at those! No worrying about sticky or weird caramel issues.
EASY! and nomnomnom… uh… I couldn’t help myself!
