Mr. Snowman – You Are Such a Blockhead!
I just love making two-by-four decor! They are so versatile you can almost make any character with them! Here I am today with some cute Snowman heads, thankfully, they don’t melt away and leave little puddles!
You’ll need three blocks of wood – two cut at 10 inches and one cut at 8 inches. See my first post Here on getting these cut for you at the local home improvement store.
Sand them down and soften the edges. Paint them white with several coats of acrylic paint.
First, to make the noses. Take a good marble sized piece of clay, roll it into a log shape. Then put one end on the table to flatten, and pinch the tip into a carrot shape. To add the carrot lines, use a razor blade and lightly press lines and roll the cone for the lines to continue around. Bake according to clay directions. Mine took about 1.5 hours to harden totally.
Use new colored socks and put them on the top of the block. Roll the cuff up and secure into place with a hot glue gun.
Add button eyes and the nose to the wood using hot glue.
Use chalk and in a round scrubbing motion add the cheeks
Highlight the cheeks and eyes with a little white fabric paint.
Use pinking scissors to cut fabric for the scarves. Just cut a straight piece of fabric about 18 inches long.
Wrap around the block, then tie in a knot. I used hot glue to secure the ribbon into place.
Add their eyebrows and smiles with a black sharpie marker.
Your snowmen are ready to use! Decorate with them!
