After Hours Ink & Flowers post:
After learning the sad news of Paper Crafts magazine closing their doors, I began to reflect back on my personal experience with the industry. It was a long day ago when I got my first phone call asking for a layout to be published in Creating Keepsakes magazine. I had only been submitting a short while, and Creating Keepsakes was top of the line to get published in. As I listened to the answering machine (yes it was THAT long ago) I actually jumped for joy! My Hubby looked at me like I was crazy, but I didn’t care. The thrill of that moment will stay with me forever.
Since that day, I have been published hundreds of times. I salute all the magazines that have sung their swan song. Ivy Cottage, PaperKuts, Making Memories, Creating Keepsakes, Cards, Scrapbooks Etc, Cricut Magazine, and many I am leaving out. I have enjoyed being a part of the published world, seeing my work travel the globe and seeing my art come to life in print. I know it took many hours for each editorial team to complete and put out these beautiful pages. I waited so impatiently for a new month issue to be published and sat greedy to read and fawn over other peoples work, chock full of details and ideas I eagerly awaited to try in my own work. I thank you all for being such an amazing part of this industry and helping to inspire so many along the way. I enjoyed writing a couple articles with Making Memories, loved my job with Cricut Magazine, and will truly miss seeing the quality and creativity that was print magazines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
