Shabby Chic Ball Jar Flower Vase
I have seen painted Ball jars that are antiqued, and I just love them! Boy are they easy to make. You just paint them with a good-quality acrylic paint, with a couple of coats. Once they are dry, run some sandpaper over them. Take off as much or as little of the paint that you want. What’s important is that when you sand, that you get the raised parts of the jar, then take off a little here and there around the flat spots of the jar. Once done that, spray with a little clear coat to protect your work and it’s done.
Then, what to do with the jar? I used my Cricut machine to make some beautiful Giant Flowers (cart) and glued them in place.
When assembling the Giant Flowers, use a hot glue gun to keep them together and they are almost as indestructible as fabric flowers.
I also used some wood dowels ( chopsticks) to create stems that I wrapped floral tape around in case I wanted to use the stems.
I wrapped some jute around the top of the jar, then added my flowers. I used a little hot glue to keep them firmly in place, but wanted a filler for the outside. I used some moss (a dollar store find) and hot glued bunches of that between and under the flowers.
When I was finished I have a beautiful shabby chic Ball jar flower vase all made with items I already had around the house!
