Taco Spiced Pumpkin Cheese Ball
I love creating easy recipes to share so that my friends and family can see these ideas and get inspired to take fun items to potlucks and parties.
This Taco Spiced Pumpkin Shaped Cheese ball is just so fun, it looks like a pumpkin and is so easy to create, serve with some blue corn tortilla chips for creep factor to fit right in at your Halloween buffet.
I also try to make them simple, and I think this recipe is pretty easy. Bonus, it’s delicious too. Stay tuned at the end of this post for ideas on what to do if you have leftovers from this cheese ball.
You need -
2 packages 80z each of cream cheese- softened
1 cup shredded cheese – I used a colby jack mix
1/2 cup of salsa- your favorite kind
2 packages of taco seasoning mix
blue corn tortilla chips
1/2 cup of nacho tortilla chips
top of one green pepper
In a mixing bowl, place all ingredients and mix well. Lay out two large pieces of saran wrap and add cream cheese mix to center. Pull saran wrap up to create ball shape of cheese.
Place in refrigerator for 2 hours until firm. In a gallon ziploc bag, add nacho chips- I used Doritos- and crush with your hands. Crush until all chips are in the smallest pieces possible.
Remove saran wrap from cheese ball, add cheese ball to ziploc bag with crushed doritos, and gently roll until ball in completely coated.
Serve, and enjoy– serves about 20 people.
Blend the ingredients until mixed well.
Cut two pieces of saran wrap and add cheese mix to center, then pull sides of saran up towards top of ball.
Shape with your hands to resemble pumpkin shape. Place in fridge to firm, at least 2 hours.
Crush dorito’s in gallon ziploc baggie, remove saran from cheese ball and roll in dorito crumbs until coated.
Remove stem from a green pepper and place in the center of the pumpkin. Serve with tortilla chips. Use Blue Corn tortilla for a spooky treat.
Place some spiders and a nasty rat to create some creep factor!
If you have leftovers of this cheese ball- you could-
- melt it with some cooked ground turkey and have a creamy dip to eat with Scoops
- mix it in with chicken and make homemade enchiladas
- spread it on some tortillas and make wraps and slice into thin slices
What other ideas can you come up with for leftovers?
